StabiliTrak Overview

General Motors (GM) made StabiliTrak standard in all its newer vehicles once it became patented in 2007 in order to help increase vehicle safety and save lives on the road. StabiliTrak is a censoring system built into Chevrolets to help keep the wheels from skidding and keep a good grip on the road to help you avoid an accident.

The sensor system can sense when brake pressure needs to be applied and automatically apply brake pressure. This ESC system can alter the trajectory of the vehicle by combining brake pressure and engine power to influence steering during loss of control of the vehicle. StabiliTrak is incredibly beneficial when driving in ice and snow to help you stay on the road.

Why have the Option to Turn it Off and On?

GM made a great choice in allowing drivers to turn StabiliTrak on and off when needed. If it is there to save lives and make driving safer, why would they allow you to turn it off? There are times when your vehicle might get stuck in the mud or other places off-road. If the ESC system is turned on during these moments, it will make it difficult to get unstuck. For this reason, you can turn off this safety feature. It is important to remember to turn it back on before hitting the road again.

Concluding Thoughts on StabiliTrak

Overall, this GM made and patented ESC system has major benefits when keeping drivers safe and allowing them to drive with confidence. It helps people maintain control of their car in harsh weather conditions and it helps you to avoid accidents by controlling steering because

the sensors will be able to respond quicker than human reaction time. In larger vehicles, such as trucks, it helps drivers from rolling when taking sharp turns or from overturning.
