Shaking When You Brake

A shaking feeling in the steering wheel when you hit the brakes is a sign of brake trouble. In this case, the usual suspect is worn or damaged wheel rotors. When you hit the brakes, the brake calipers grab both sides of the wheel rotors and apply friction. This friction slows and stops the rotors.

Over time, your wheel rotors can begin to rust. The sections where the brake pad touches are less affected, but they cause depressions in the rust build-up. This is particularly true if your car hasn’t been driven for a while. If a brake caliper grabs one of these pad impressions, your steering wheel will shake. We can repair this problem by resurfacing the rotors to remove the rust.

Brake Fluid leak

Leaking brake fluid is very serious. Your braking system depends on highly-pressurized brake fluid to push the calipers against the wheel rotors. If your braking system hasn’t been serviced for a while, some of its components can start to wear. Holes can develop in rubber brake hoses, for example, due to the constant passage of hot and pressurized fluid.

A hole anywhere in the braking system can lead to a brake fluid leak. You’ll feel your brake pedal suddenly provides less resistance than it should. The lack of resistance is due to a loss of fluid and pressure in the system. Our technicians will identify the cause of the leak and seal it. Once this repair is complete, we’ll refill your brake fluid.

Noises From Your Brakes

You often hear a screeching sound in movies when a car suddenly stops, and it can be entertaining. It’s far less pleasurable if you hear sounds like screeching, squealing, or grinding when you apply your car’s brakes. All these noises are signs that your brakes have a problem that needs to be fixed right away. Squealing, for example, can be a sign that your brake calipers are rusted.

Screeching and grinding noises are usually caused by worn brake pads. The screeching sounds give way to a grinding noise as the worn pads damage your wheel rotors. We’ll find the cause of the noises and repair the problem.
